File this one under "I didn't see that coming."

Republic Airways Holdings will acquire Mesa Air Group:

The new airline would retain the Republic name and likely maintain the carrier's current headquarters in Carmel, Indiana, near Indianapolis. The Republic leadership team will lead the carrier with the new board of directors made up of six directors from Republic and one from Mesa.

Although the article states that the Republic name will be maintained, it doesn't differentiate between Republic the airline (Republic Airways) and Republic the holding company. In the grand scheme, it doesn't really matter to anyone other than those on the Republic or Mesa seniority lists.
Make Orwell fiction again.

So, UA own a chunk of the company that they're selling to the company that would then operate a great number of their flights? US aviation is getting more like Norwegian every day!
A million great ideas...
