MAN meet 2025 ?

Arrange meetings, spotting trips and mutual flying activities here.

As we are struggling to find a date that would suit all of us regulars to have our LIS meet, this got me thinking that we used to have a tradition with a fixed date : the famous MAN meet on the last week-end of June. This year would be 28-29 JUN... Curry anyone ?

I'm in for this, barring anything major getting in the way.

I'll book in to the Premier Inn at Heald Green for at least the Saturday night, maybe the Friday too.
Just once in a while, let us exalt the importance of ideas and information.

I might be able to make that work. As usual, I won't know till the last minute though.

I should be available. I'll be a few miles or a short flight away, so I'll be there.
A million great ideas...

Open to another weekend if there's enough interest among the group {thumbsup}

Great idea !

28/29-JUN would be okay for me, the weekend after not.
21/22-JUN would be a good alternative.

Hotel rates at the Premier Inn Heald Green were equal among the two weekends in June when I checked.
Flights for me seem to be a bit cheaper for the first weekend with slightly better options available.

Would be nice if we could fix a date soon.

I have to revise my earlier expressed participation interest.

For the moment (and the time being) I somewhat am not amused by UK´s upcoming Electronic Travel Authorisation process, especially its procedure and complexity.
Unless my mood changes I likely will give any MAN Curry meeting this summer a pass.

(As an alternative I am starting to consider a pre-ETA Curry at the Cinnamon Tree some time in March.)

Just had a quick look for the ETA, from what I see it's very similar to the US ESTA.
I'm taking the Eurostar to London in april so will likely have to apply for an ETA by then.
Let me know if you find a date in march that would suit you but I may have limited availability that month as I have a trip to Spain already {boxed}

I'm currently OK for 21-22 June as well as 28-29.

I finally convinced myself that late-June is supposed the much better time of year to come to Manchester than mid-March.

A room at the Premier Inn Heald Green has been booked for the weekend around 21/22-JUN-2025, me arriving Friday 20-JUN and departing Monday, 23-JUN.

Flights are on LH via MUC inbound, and on OS via VIE for returning home, selected for timings to suit my preferences, and avoiding too short connection times (like LX via ZRH is trying to sell).

´hope to see some familiar faces !

That is excellent news Holger !
Just booked CRL-MAN for Saturday morning, outbound flight to be determined later as the 0620am departure on Sunday isn't appealing at all...

Confirmed

I will make the greatest effort possible to attend this. I should be good for a short trip and have absolutely nothing else on at the time as it happens!
A million great ideas...

I've booked the Premier Inn, Heald Green for the Friday and Saturday nights.

I have also reserved two full days of clear blue skies for Saturday and Sunday - see you there :))

A tip for anyone thinking of attending this: Prices at the Premier Inn Heald Green (the best spot for MAN and good curry) are very cheap at the moment but will rise steeply (probably close to double) when you get withing 3 months of the date.

I'm sorely tempted to book and just hope I can make it.

Is that weather ABTA protected?

When I booked, GBP 157 for the three nights I am staying, was so much cheaper than the fully refundable rate, that I went for the non-refundable / non-amendable rate, which is very unusual for me.

Not if I am attending the meeting. {guns}

As mentioned elsewhere, I'm afraid the best I'll be able to do is wave from BA1389 on the Saturday as I depart to LHR and onwards to SEA.
There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.
