Just happen to be sitting in a Waffle House right now, and saw a story about Waffle Houses being a standard of how bad an area is expected to be.

Not that you got a hankering for waffles right now, but any Waffle Houses doing business your way, Vic?

Cover your ass first, any updates will be appreciated once you're safe.

Have we heard anything more from Marseno? What about Johnny Rod (aviationmanpr)?

Robby (Islander) appears to have marked himself safe. Our avretweeter friend from Antigua is safe & well in Germany.
A million great ideas...

As I mentioned before, I'm well north of south Florida, but I-75 passes by about 10 miles east of my home. Anyway, it's a virtual parking lot on the northbound side. Three lanes, bumper to bumper, and moving about five miles an hour. I've driven under it a few times yesterday and today and it's just getting worse.

Gas lines here are about 30 to 45 minutes, if you can find a station with fuel.

I went to Walmart this morning and they'd just unloaded a pallet of propane cylinders for the Coleman camp stove that I have for emergencies. So I picked up 10 bottles of that to keep us going during the rain. After the rain passes, I've got plenty of charcoal (~300 lbs) , so cooking won't be a problem until the juice comes back on.

We have about 3 cases of bottled water for my wife, me, and the two dogs, plus about 40 gallons in big 5 gallon jugs, so we'll be able to flush for a few days.

So I'm still playing the waiting game. Based on past experience, the power will probably go out Sunday or Monday, but I'll keep checking in until we lose it.

You 3 and the other members in the Islands stay safe.

And shoot Jim Cantore if you get a chance.

Sounds like you're well prepared Boris. Stay safe also, the forecasts have Irma still blowing hard all the way up to the border with TN, even the tail end of this one could be nasty especially if it catches out people who usually avoid such storms.

My folks are at MCO, their flight leaving in 90 minutes or so.

They say it's a zoo.

Irma has company as it and Jose both are majors. Cat 4 Jose is targeting some heavily damaged areas and may require his/its own thread.

Putting the grill and coolers in now. All boarded up. It has been a three-ring shit show. Murphy has been dogging me. I'll post a post-action later.

On a brighter note, the tracks have shifted west of us. We're still going to get hurricane force winds. And I am butting a bunker together in the kitchen with 4X4's.

We have plenty of water, food, and gas. If the roof stays we're set.

We're starting to get the feeder bands now. I'll post up the pics later.

Good job Vic! {thumbsup} I'm a couple days behind you, supposed to be the worst here Sunday night/Monday morning. We're also supposed to get hurricane winds and the Google Earth track right now passes about 35 miles west of my house. That's a little too close for comfort.

I boarded up my front windows for the first time ever. We've got lots of food and water. My neighbor has a concrete block horse barn with no horses, so he's letting me park my car inside it. I'll take it over tomorrow morning and walk home (about a mile).

Now it's just wait and watch on TV. Good luck Victor, and everyone else affected...

Thanks Bob. Having a six-year old made it an experience. We were/are prepared for the worst. We have had the weather alerts for tornado warnings. My son and I built a bunker with 4X4's covered by a tarp as a safe area in case the roof has issues. Foam floor and lantern lighting. I'll post pictures once this shit is over.

Good luck to you and yours.

Stay safe! I strongly recommend the Radar Scope app. It's a great tool for monitoring wind velocities and differential velocities.

At the rate this this thing is moving it will be dawn before
it gets close to Key West and evening before it gets to Naples.

Good Luck.

We've gotten 100+ gusts. Most of my coconut palms are down. The storm has tracked closer to us. The gusts are getting stronger. Our fence is down. We're getting pounded due to the slow forward speed. On the radar imagery it appears the eye is out en at the bottom.

Do you still have power from outside or are you running on a generator? During Ike the fence was the first thing to go and we never got hurricane gusts let alone winds. Yep, the forecasters blew the forward speed projection, moving much slower than advertised even yesterday. Still, better it tracks farther to the west than dead over you. Plus it's not quite as powerful as they predicted a few days ago as well. Good luck, stay safe and dry.

A bit of good news, Irma now down to Cat 3 (via ABCNews).
Delta767-300ER 10 Sep 17, 18:25Post
Squalls coming through Okeechobee. Winds are gusty but only had a few Tropical Storm forced gusts. I will try to update before retiring to quarters for the night. We're working Alpha/Bravo shifts (12 on/ 12 off).

As predicted by several sources, at least two construction cranes have collapsed in downtown Miami. That'll be a fun mess to clean up. I wonder how much glass the high rises have lost? On the other side of the state they were showing shots of lots of terra cotta roof tiles on the ground. They look pretty but I always wondered how well they would fare in a wind storm.
