The US Army has grounded all aircraft except those on "critical missions" after two recent fatal mid-air crashes.

The "aviation stand down" order announced on Friday comes a day after two Apache helicopters collided in Alaska, killing three US Army pilots.

So couples weeks ago, at Campbell, some "dark ops" Blackhawks didn't make it. Night time, NVGs, no combat, spashed in the middle of a highway. Haven't seen the report yet.

Yesterday, two Apaches in broad daylight, clear sky, decent weather, no anomalous flight conditions that I have heard destroy themselves over central Alaska.

Event #1 has some mitigation: see my remark.

Event #2 is gonna be - in my opinion, HOT DOG PILOT ERROR. Sadly.

Regardless, my Army lost more souls . . . RIP.
